studio_Mapping Development six.

Below are 4 possible map designs i might use. Not entity shore which one it will be, each one is a little different. Going to concentrate on the icon development now before i make a decision.

studio_Mapping Development Five.

The mapping designs are starting to improve a lot now and i'm happy with the direction i am going in. Apply colour to the zone in use is very effective and would stand out when on the wall.

studio_Mapping Development Four.

Still not happy with the deign even when i applied colour. I ended up having each zone of the map with its own wall, so it became individual to that space.

studio_Mapping Development Three.

The thin line approach i'm not too sure about. One because the visibility of the design is effected and two because it looks like its been designed very quickly without any consideration.

studio_Mapping Development Two.

Using the document grid on indesign i started to design a map the had a little more structure and substance. As you can see the result is pretty good, however i do get a feeling that its lego bricks for some reason and feel that i can do much better.

Studio_Mapping Development One.

Very much as standard trace of the existing map that amber supplied to me. After showing this design to a few colleagues of mine, they all liked it. The final design at the bottom is a simplified version with a little less detail. Even though it does its job, i want to develop a more individual style of mapping.

Studio_Floor Plans.

Amber sent me the floor plans of the building so that i could start to develop a mapping system and signage for the equipment.

studio_Layout.

Originally i wanted to have an image for each equipment that would have the dimensions and little details about it. This was just a quick mock-up of what i wanted but as i said before, its not going to be possible to do - at the moment.

Studio_Vector Drawings.

Below are the First three completed vector drawings, each showing 3 different elevation plans - front, side, plan. Overall i'm very happy with them. This is something i would of not been able to do 6 months ago. The issue i have got is that they are taking me too long to do. After speaking to Joe Gilmore he recommended that i only propose the booklet and have the images for highlighting the sections. Being realistic i feel he is right however deep down i am very gutted that i cannot do them all or even do 7 more for the other 7 sections. Being realistic can sometimes be my problem. Even so, i am very happy with what i have done and its something i would love to do again.

studio_Vector Drawing Development Three.

Below i had some issues getting part of the guillotine vectored because of the photograph. Even though it was a direct shot the sides start to veer off. The method of sorting this was simple, take a direct shot of the part you need to vector and line it up to the original. Not to myself for the future.

studio_Vector Drawing Development Two.

Doing the Vector images has taken me longer than i first thought. I have spent 4 days doing this vector image of the guillotine and the studio brief is starting to run over schedule. I have had Issues with vectorising this complex and detail shape, at times i have enjoyed it but it getting annoying. The bonus is that i am picking up the short cut keys fast and overall i am impressed with the quality of the images.

Above i had an issue getting the tubular curve correct. Eventually i set up a make shift jig using the square background. This allowed me to get the inner curve and outer curve visually correct. This could be useful in the future when doing something curved.

The result of getting it right.

Alignment issues. Was doing each of the lines manually but eventually found out that there was a tool that could do all this for you.

Getting all the little details right.

Detail. Yes.

Studio_Vector Drawing Development.

Below are the vectors for the stall. This didn't really take me that long to do. About 3 hours. For some people it would of taken 30 mins. I had a little trouble aligning the different angles so the was the same height ( look at the guides ) but eventual got it right.

Studio_Equipment Photographs.

Below are images of products i have taken for vectorising for my studio brief. I was very tempted to use the actual photographs for my publication. As you can see i have managed to take a few good shots that would need some editing. However i'm going to continue with my plan of vectorising the images. Illustrator isn't my strongest skill and its something i have wanted to get better with for a while. The images have been taken from a direct angle so that i can do very detailed 2D vectors. Overall i'm very confident that the vectors i will do will be of a great standard and mainly because of these photographs.
